Lending a helping hand!

mediation

" the act or process of mediating;

especially: intervention between conflicting parties

to promote reconciliation, settlement, or compromise"

-Webster's Dictionary

          Peer Mediation is a confidential way for students to resolve their conflicts. The disputants are guided to a solution by two student mediators. The process of mediation consists of the following steps-

Introductions and Explanation

The mediators introduce themselves and inform the disputants of the rules of mediation, the process, and answer any questions they may have.

Storytelling

Each disputant tells their side of the story without interruptions. The mediators ask questions to make sure they completely understand the problem.

Issues and Needs

After hearing the disputants' sides of the story, the mediators help the disputants identify their issues and needs.

Problem Solving

The mediators and disputants brainstorm solutions until they decide on the best possible one.

Crafting an Agreement

After the disputants decide on the exact solution, it is written into a contract which is signed by both.
